Our Story
Formed in the late-night jam circles of their local bluegrass scene (Summit County Colorado), Risky Strings brings high-energy picking, tight harmonies, and fearless musicianship to every stage. Led by Marly Lovett - A guitarist, singer, and song-writer who has gigged since she was a kid, won the South-Park Bluegrass Festival Troubadour Contest in 2024 at the age of 15. Marly turned to the musicians she trusted most- her weekly jam companions to perform with her at that year's festival. All with the same desire and love for music, the band came together and made their debut.
Ever since, the've gone on to play at the Dillon Amphitheater, New Terrain, Ullrgrass Festival, played with award winning banjo player Kyle Tuttle, competed in the 2026 Rocky Grass Band Competition, and have opened for renowned artist such as Jeremy Garret (Infamous String-dusters), Bill Nershi (String-cheese Incident), and Bonnie Sims (Big Richard) + Taylor Sims. As well as gone on an across country tour.
Nick Puglisi on 5-string Banjo, began his musical journey in college playing the Guitar. He then turned to the call of the Banjo and the bluegrass world. Ever since, he has enlightened many with his talent.
Their Bass player, Brian Bala, has been playing since he was in high school. Starting his path in jazz bands and rock bands, he found his way to a new musical direction, the style of bluegrass. Bringing joy everywhere he goes with his sick bass lines.
Arthur Wessel was introduced to the dobro in 2016 and he's been captivated by the resonant twang ever since. Today he is one of the most well known slide players in the high country and in July of 2026 he earned 1st place in the 54th Annual Rockygrass Dobro Competition.
Nick Beato, multi instrumentalist. Brings sweet and daring melodies to every song. Shredding the Mandolin with passion and devotion he shares his sound. A true professional and entertainer.
